Hope on Wheels – Publicity Van for Raising Epilepsy Awareness

Impressed with the work of Indian Epilepsy Association (IEA) -Bangalore Chapter in disseminating knowledge regarding epilepsy, UCB pharmaceuticals, a multinational company (as a part of their social responsibility) donated a publicity van. The activities of IEA coincided with UCB’s philosophy of “Hope on Wheels.”

In a simple but impressive ceremony on 12 December 2012, Mr. Fabrice Endelin, Head, Global Corporate Social responsibility who had flown in specially for this occasion, presented the keys to Dr. P. Satish Chandra, Director and Vice-Chancellor, NIMHANS and Prof. Dr. G. T. Subhas, President, IEA Bangalore chapter. Present on the occasion were Hon’ble Justice N. Kumar of High Court of Karnataka and Chief of State Mental Health Authority, Dr. H. V. Shankar, President IEA, Dr. Safia Rizvi, Managing Director, UCB India, faculty and staff of NIMHANS as well as members of IEA, Bangalore Chapter.

Dr. Satish Chandra, Director and Vice-Chancellor, NIMHANS, presiding over the function stressed the need for awareness and stated that NIMHANS was extremely happy to join hands with IEA in this noble activity of dissemination of knowledge.

Mr. Fabrice Endelin in his address said that he was highly impressed with the current activities and that their contribution was but a drop in the ocean. He would like to see these activities replicated in many other places.

The “Hope on Wheels” will greatly support IEA and NIMHANS’ efforts in dissemination of information on epilepsy and other mental and neurological disorders.
