Research Activities
Post Graduate research activity -
- The M.Sc course in Psychiatric Nursing started in the Department of Nursing
in the year 1988. As on July, 2010, 124 candidates have completed their
M.Sc Degree in Psychiatric Nursing.
- The thesis work of students of II year M.Sc in Psychiatric Nursing is guided
by the faculty of Dept. of Nursing.
Ph.D. research activity - Ph.D scholars research activity is guided by the faculty of Dept. of
Nursing. Two candidates have completed their Ph.D and presently three candidates from NIMHANS are
pursuing their Ph.D in Nursing.

- Dr. Nagarajaiah et al. -Effect of Training Programme on knowledge, attitude and clinical skills
of nursing teachers of Schools of Nursing about Psychiatric Nursing.
- Dr. Ramachandra et al. - Research methodology for Post Graduates and Doctoral students
in Nursing
- Dr. Sailaxmi Gandhi et al. - Effect of a Continuing Nursing Education Programme
on Knowledge and Opinion of Nursing Teachers/Trainees of Undergraduate Programme about Psychiatry and
Psychiatric Nursing
GFATM Project
GFATM stands for Global Fund to fight AIDS/HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria, for which College of Nursing,
NIMHANS, is a Sub-sub recipient, conducts 2 sessions of 5 days each every month for 25-30 participants
from selected centres of catchment area assigned by INC.
