In-Service Education Programmes are periodically conducted for different cadres such as Hospital
Assistant Apprenticeship Trainees, Group ‘D’ officials, Staff Nurses, Ward Supervisors and newly
appointed staff on a regular basis.
Manpower Development
Workshops, Seminars and Continuing Nursing Education programmes in Psychiatric Nursing, Neurological
Nursing and Research Methodology are being conducted regularly in the department on a monthly basis
to cater to the needs of undergraduates, postgraduates, Ph.D. students and the faculty of various
colleges within the State and from other parts of India as well as for the nursing staff of NIMHANS.
Communication Skills Workshop in collaboration with Department of Mental Health and Social Psychology
is being conducted on alternate months.
Short Term Training programmes conducted in the department are:
- Short Term Clinical Experience to nurses of other Health Organisations
from India.
- Training of nurses under psychiatric nursing under District Mental Health
Programme (Karnataka)
- Training in Psychiatric Nursing under WHO Fellowship
- Training in Psychiatric Nursing and in Neuro-Nursing under W.H.O
In-Country Fellowship
- Providing clinical experience for external trainees from different parts of
country.
Curriculum development and Syllabus Revision for B.Sc in Nursing, D.N.N, D.P.N and M.Sc in
Psychiatric Nursing.
Monthly Journal Clubs
Journal Clubs are held every month in the psychiatric wing and at Neurocentre
for the Ward Supervisors.
Seminar Presentations
The students of M.Sc in Psychiatric Nursing – I and II year have seminar
presentations every Tuesday, chaired by the Faculty Members of the
Department.
