The
Department
of Nursing provides exemplary, comprehensive and holistic nursing care services which is
multi-prolonged in nature aiming at preventive, promotive, curative & rehabilitative components of
neuropsychiatric care in the hospital as well as in the community which places it at the helm of nursing
services, both nationally and internationally. The faculty and staff of the Department of Nursing are
dedicated and committed to offering premier, quality, guidance, instruction and teaching in clinical
and research arenas. Nursing services, education and research activities are on par with the latest
developments in the field of neuropsychiatry.
The College of Nursing was officially inaugurated on 3rd March, 2010 by Sri. Ghulam Nabi Azad, the
Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India and Dr. S.K. Shankar, Director and
Vice-Chancellor, NIMHANS.
Objectives
- To provide quality nursing care (24 hours nursing service) to psychiatric and neuropatients in
the hospital as well as in the community.
- To maintain continuous quality in educational programme for students of Ph.D., M.Sc. in Psychiatric
Nursing, Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing and Diploma in Neurological and Neurosurgical Nursing and
other training programmes.
- To provide meaningful and qualitative clinical learning experience to students of B.Sc and
M.Sc (Psy) Nursing from College of Nursing of other states from India.
- To build up research potentials in the Department of Nursing
- To provide leadership in the field of mental health and neurosciences nursing in the country.
- To provide advisory and consultation services to nursing schools and colleges and hospitals in
the field of nursing services and education.
