Dr. Mahendra P. Sharma is the consultant for the Behaviour Medicine unit. His current
research focuses on Third Generation Behavior Therapies such as Mindfulness – based or – Integrated
cognitive behavior therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Meta-cognitive Therapy. His
interest in these interventions is rooted in his basic interest in the study of meditation,
particularly the Mindfulness meditation. Stress management in different populations, cognitions and
meta-cognitions in emotional disorders, treatment of sexual dysfunctions, pain management and
psycho-oncology are his other areas of interest.

Dr Seema Mehrotra is a consultant for an Adult psychiatry Unit as well as at Psychological Care
Clinic. She is also a consultant at the Positive Psychology unit and runs a weekly clinic for
positive mental health called FLOURISH at the NIMHANS Center for Well Being. Her research work
revolves around themes pertaining to positive psychology, adaptation to major life events,
psycho-oncology and mental health promotion. She is currently conducting an ICMR funded project on
development and controlled trial of a promotive intervention module for college youth. In addition
she is the principal investigator for a CSIR funded project on aggressive driving and anger on
roads among two wheeler riding college youth which is being conducted in collaboration with CRRI,
New Delhi.

Dr. Paulomi M Sudhir is a consultant in the Behaviour Medicine Unit. She specializes in
cognitive behavioral therapies and behavioral interventions for various anxiety disorders,
depression, personality disorders and other clinical conditions such as eating disorders and health
anxiety management. She is also interested in the application of these interventions in lifestyle
disorders and chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and infertility. She has mentored research
work in CBT for OCD, social anxiety and cognitive and personality factors such as Inter personal
sensitivity, perfectionism in anxiety and depression, adaptation of integrated psychological
therapy (IPT) for schizophrenia and examination of process- issues in CBTs.

Dr Keshav Kumar is a consultant in the Neuro-Psychology Unit. His research interests in the
field of clinical neuro- psychology include neuro-psychological rehabilitation in acquired brain
damage including clinical conditions such as head injury, stroke and schizophrenia. Efforts are
being made to extend the usage of cognitive retraining with elderly population with cognitive
impairments. In this endeavor, several manual- based and computer based neuropsychological programs
have been developed to enhance cognitive function in clinical population. He has also been involved
in adaptation of neuropsychological tests to assess ventral frontal functions, and development of
indigenous neuropsychological test for Indian elderly population especially those with no formal
education. His other research interests include cognitive and emotional decision making and
executive functions in persons with traumatic brain injury, frontal, temporal lesions and healthy
normals. This line of research has involved gambling paradigms and use of psycho physiological and
electrophysiological methods.

Dr. D. Kumar is a consultant for an Adult psychiatry unit. In addition he visits the Psychological
Care Clinic at NIMHANS Centre for Well-being as a consultant. His research interests are cognitive
deficits in schizophrenia, understanding these deficits with the help of Event-Related Potentials
and fMRI, Meta-cognitive training for schizophrenia patients, Central Nervous System based detection
of deception techniques, development of psychological tests as well as standardization and norm
development for existing tests and psychotherapy in Indian context. Recently he has got three
extramural research grants as Principal Investigator – Department of Biotechnology’s Rapid Grant
for Young Investigators (RGYI), grant under Neurobiology initiatives of the Department of
Biotechnology and Cognitive Science Research Initiative grant from the Department of Science and
Technology. Moreover, he is a co-investigator in a non-funded institutional research project on
comparison of variants of Exposure and Response Prevention treatment in OCD.

Dr Shantala Hegde is a clinical psychology consultant in an Adult Psychiatry Unit. Her area of
specialization during doctoral research work was neuropsychology and cognitive remediation in
schizophrenia. Currently she is engaged in research work in the area of music-cognition and
neuromusicology. She is presently leading several projects in the area of music cognition and
neuromusicology funded by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Indian Council of Medical
Research (ICMR) and Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Aspects such as the pitch
perception and identification of Ragas of the Indian Classical music using electrophysiological
parameters (EEG/ERP), appraisal of emotion induced via music, personality dimensions and appraisal
of musical emotion and socio-cultural factors associated with expertise in Indian Classical music
are being examined under these projects.
