IIS has instituted several awards for students, young and senior scientists to recognise their contribution to Immunology
research in the country. The eligibility criteria for scientists/researchers for selected categories are given below.
Indian Immunology Society Senior
Scientist Oration Award:
The Society recognizes outstanding and significant contributions made by an eminent scientist in
any area of immunology over a period. The scientist should have been actively engaged in the field of his/her research for
a number of years and should have shown sustained contribution. The criteria for nomination are given below:
. The nominee Should be a member of the IIS for at least last five years
. Should produce evidence of his/her outstanding research work carried out in the
country . The nominee(s) can nominate themselves or be nominated by members of the
Society. Nominations should be sent to the Secretary, Indian Immunology Society. For the year 2009, the nominations may

The nominations remains active for three years and the deadline for receiving these nominations is
10th October 2009 and should include:
. A copy of the up-to-date CV
. A list of recent publications
. A brief note (less than 500 words) highlighting the nominees research contributions
. Reprints of 5 outstanding research papers
If selected for the Senior Scientist Oration Award, the awardee will be informed at least one month before the
Annual Meeting of the Society. The awardee will be requested to deliver a 45 minute oration at the Annual Meeting of the
Society. The award carries a Certificate of honour, a Medal and cash prize of Rs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand Only).
GP Talwar Young Scientist
Award:
Young scientists fulfilling the following criteria can apply for this award:
. Should be a member of the Indian Immunology Society
. Should be below 35 years of age at the time of the application
. Should have done original research in India in any area of immunology.
The application should be submitted through the Head of the Department/ PhD Supervisor and should include a copy of their CV,
list of publications, full manuscript of the work to be considered for the award including photographs, tables etc, and an
abstract of the presentation (250 words) that will be included in the Book of Abstracts to be brought out by the IISM
organizers. The applications for this award may please be submitted directly to the Secretary, Indian Immunology
Society. For the year 2009, the nominations may please be sent directly to Dr. D.N.Rao, Secretary-IIS by

The award carries a certificate, a medal and a cash prize of Rs. 5,000
(Rupees Five Thousand only). The deadline for receiving the nominations is
10th October 2009. Short listed candidates will be required to make
their presentations at the Annual Meeting of the Society.
A Panel of Judges will select two best candidates for the award.
Poster Presentations:
The posters are to be 3ft x 4ft size and should be represented by the presenting author
during the poster session. Awards for "Best Posters" in each session will be announced on
19th December 2009 during the valedictory ceremony.
